My father, Richard
McDuffie, Sr. was incredibly proud of "Doc" and wrote this about him in
2006:
Doctor Coppertone is 15 years old. We
have owned him 10 years. He has been bred extensively to both
registered McCurdys and grade mares. His foals from both have proven to
be calm, laid-back and naturally gaited. A high percentage of his foals
come copper chestnut with white markings. They are easily trained and
maintained.
For five years, Doctor Coppertone was my
main trail-riding horse. I have kept him tied to my trailer for a week
in campgrounds without having him paw the trailer a single time. I have
ridden him with as many as a hundred horses without his misbehaving.
His manners are exceptional for a stallion.
We are glad to have Doc here at Dunrovin Plantation, and happy to make
him available for breeding to both registered and grade mares.
