The
Dunrovin/McDuffie Dogs

Rick's sisters, Renee (L) and Sonya (R) with our
English Shepherd,
Jane, and her litter ca. 1966. The photo on the right is of Renee
and Jane ca. 1971.

Dunrovin Old Shep-
This is one of the four pups that Richard McDuffie, Sr. found in
Tennessee in the early
90's. He was the sire of our Beethoven. Shep was stolen
from Richard Sr.'s home in Aiken, SC in the mid 90's.

Albright's Ranger-
In 1994, Rick bought 3 littermates- Bullet, Sassy and Diane- from Roger
and Diane Albright in Thomasville, NC. Nothing is known of
Ranger's parentage... as Rick remembers the story, "Ranger "took up" at
the
home of a relative, and the Albrights adopted him. He became the
sire of our Bullet, Sassy and Diane. The Albrights no longer have
their line of dogs. These were some of the most intelligent dogs
I've ever seen- they would tree, work stock, and do anything to please
you. I believe most of that came from Ranger. "

McDuffie's
Beethoven
(whelped 12/10/95, no longer living)- Beethoven was out of Dunrovin Old
Shep and Dunrovin Moline. Rick bred him to both Diane and Sassy,
and that breeding produced many pups. Beethoven was a big,
powerful dog with a gentle disposition.

McDuffie's Diane
(whelped 5/10/94, no longer living)- Littermate to Bullet and Sassy,
and mother of our Slobber. Bullet, Diane and Sassy were out of
Albright's Ranger and Albright's Sheba. Diane was a great dog-
she would tree,
work stock, you name it.

McDuffie's
Sassy (whelped 5/10/94, no longer living)- Dam of Sandra Niedrauer's Jacob,
among
many other nice dogs. Littermate to Bullet and Diane.

McDuffie's Bullet (whelped
5/10/94, no longer living)- Bullet
was Rick's dog- unbelievably
devoted, stock savvy, obedient, and probably the most intelligent dog
we have ever known. He was also murder on housecats (as were
Sassy
and Diane). Rick didn't breed him a lot, due to not having any
unrelated females on the farm at that time.

McDuffie's
Slobber (Whelped 1997)
Slobber, out of Beethoven and Diane, a grandson of Dunrovin Old
Shep.. Slobber is powerfully built, like Beethoven, but a wee
bit smaller. When he was 3 years old, he had a vertical leap of 4
feet- straight up! I believe he could still pull a plow- if you
don't believe it, try and take him out for a stroll on the leash.
He's a wonderful dog, and a full-fledged member of the family.
He's our daughter Catherine's dog, no question about it.

McDuffie's
Midge- Midge is available for adoption.
She's a natural bobtail, and came to us from the Claude
Derting family of Bristol, VA. Since Mr. Derting is deceased, we
don't know anything about Midge's parentage. However, she was
known by the family to be an "English Shepherd", and Mr. Derting had
bred a line of working cattle dogs for forty years. None of Mr.
Derting's dogs were ever registered. Our vet estimates that Midge
was born about 2001, making her 8 years old in 2009. Midge is
extremely intelligent, cute and knows how to "work
it". She seems to have treeing instinct. Midge doesn't fit into
our breeding program and we need to find her a good farm home.

Dunrovin
Annie Oakley "Annie" is a young UKC and NKC
registered female from the Jimmy Dunn line of dogs. She is smart
and eager to please. The puppies pictured here are her first
litter, born November 4, 2009 out of Slobber, which makes them
great-grandpups of Dunrovin Old Shep.
